Here are three more books I like about helping the planet.
Book Number 1: Buddy’s Rainforest Rescue by Ellie Jackson and Laura Callwood
Buddy’s Rainforest Rescue is about an orangutan called Buddy. His home is being chopped down so they can make palm oil plantations. An orangutan rescue came so they could rescue Buddy. Buddy was put into a big enclosure with lots of other orangutans then Buddy was released into the wild. I like the bit where he gets released into the wild because he can have a nice time living in the Rainforest. On the page with a picture of the palm oil plantation, it makes me feel like I don’t want that picture to be true in the wild. It makes me want to only buy sustainable palm oil or things without palm oil in. If you want to find out more about helping orangutans you can visit the Sumatran Orangutan Society (SOS)
Book Number 2: Tuki and Moka: A Tale of Two Tamarins by Judy Young
Tuki and Moka: A Tale of Two Tamarins is about a boy called Eduardo who is friends with two tamarins called Tuki and Moka. Eduardo collects Brazil nuts in the Rainforest in Ecuador to sell. Animal traffickers came and took Tuki and Moka but Eduardo found them and rescued them. Tuki and Moka: A Tale of Two Tamarins made me feel like I want to start rescuing animals too! It made me feel like I want animal trafficking to not exist.
Book Number 3: Duffy’s Lucky Escape by Ellie Jackson and Liz Oldmeadow
Duffy is a turtle. She eats plastic which people have dropped or which has blown out of bins and has been washed out to sea. She ate plastic bags because she thought they were jellyfish. The plastic made her very poorly and she couldn’t dive. She was taken to a turtle hospital by some fishermen. She had an operation to take out the plastic and make her better. Then she was able to be released back into the wild. I like the bit where she is able to be released back into the wild because that means she can be happy again. This book made me want to pick up litter so animals don’t eat it and get poorly. It made me want everyone to try to use less plastic and reuse stuff so it doesn’t end up in the sea where animals might eat it.
This is my second article about books. Now if you want to, you can read my first one.
